Legal Information

Lets start with the basics. You will need to complete a Notice Of Intention to Marry (NOIM) at least 30 days prior to the date you wish to wed – you will find one of these in my Resources tab.

We will need to meet to complete this, only one party needs to legally be present to sign this document and start the process and it’s obviously better if both parties can be present.

You will need to bring the following documents/information to be sighted and signed off:

Born in Australia?
Yes :- Australian Passport OR full extract of birth and Photo ID
No :- Need foreign passport and/or birth certificate. If unable to provide need CofA (Commonwealth of Australia) Statutory Declaration completed and signed (legally binding document)
All foreign documents supplied must be translated into English and be authenticated

If either party has been previously married, need to have original copies of final divorce papers (or death certificate)

We love to tell the story of our pre-wedding to anyone who’ll listen and fortunately Marion had a lot to do with it. The long story short is that Marion organised a reunion that got us together again after 18+ yrs (but who’s counting) – and a lot of romantic coincidences so it was only natural to ask this incredibly energetic, bubbly & vivacious lady to marry us! Everything that Marion arranged was always without stress and all communication was done with a professional and relaxed mood – even when she was chasing us for important paperwork at the last second as we found out that we were expecting a baby so there was slight chaos in moving the wedding earlier, getting a new wedding dress, etc. etc. It was certainly poignant to have Marion marry us as she has become a close friend to both of us and this made the ceremony an informal yet professional, humorous yet teary and thoroughly enjoyable occasion for all. We were hesitant to begin with to use Marion as she was a friend but I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly as she added fun & love to our wedding that I didn’t think could have had more love. We both are so incredibly pleased that we asked her and very thankful that she obliged and was, thank God, available.
